DOWNTOWN -- It started as an idea for a pleasant weekend event.
Last year, members of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project, a group of young professionals trying to make the region more dynamic, decided to organize a day-long tour of a few of the old industrial warehouses Downtown and in the Strip District that were being transformed into residential buildings.
"We established the tour because there was a buzz about living and working in the city," said tour organizer Gerard Damiani. "The event was so popular we nearly ran out of tickets."
The tour, dubbed "Paradise Loft," appears to have added momentum to a fledgling loft development movement here.
