A 7-acre site, part of the former LTV Steel site along East Carson Street in Pittsburgh's South Side will, within a year, be the location for a 270-unit housing complex built by Continental Communities of Columbus.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were yesterday.
Five three- and four-story buildings will rise between 25th and 26th streets, on the extreme western portion of the 130-acre LTV property, where the Soffer Organization is developing a $280 million retail-office-entertainment-housing complex.
Gus Cook, Continental Communities president, said the design of the Lofts is a result of nearly four years of working with local South Side community organizations, Mayor Tom Murphy's office, City Planning Commission, City Historic Review Commission and the city's Urban Redevelopment Authority.
