Residential condominiums could soon replace vacant office space at the Granite Building, an ornate, eight-story structure Downtown.
That's the plan proposed for the century-old building at 313 Sixth Ave., adajacent to the posh Duquesne Club, by city native Holly Brubach, a fashion journalist currently living in New York.
Brubach, former style editor for The New York Times, has signed a purchase agreement for the building, which once served as the local headquarters for Atlantic Financial, a savings and loan that ultimately failed during the thrift industry crisis of the late 1980s.
Her plan is to develop condo units each taking up an entire floor, including one two-floor condo where she will live, according to preliminary marketing materials for the project, described as "a 'boutique' project of unparalleled architectural distinction."
