Developer Ralph Falbo eyes condos at SouthSide Works

With his Downtown project, 151 First Side, more than 70 percent leased, Ralph Falbo is eyeing a parcel at the SouthSide Works development for more condominiums.

"It's all very preliminary at this point," said Falbo, whose Ralph A. Falbo Inc. is based Downtown. "We're always looking for sites, and we like the South Side."

The property he is considering sits between a 115-room Marriott SpringHill Suites under development by Harmar-based Kratsa Properties and the UPMC Sports Medicine complex east of the Hot Metal Bridge.

Falbo began discussing the potential project with the Urban Redevelopment Authority, which owns the parcel, a few weeks ago. He is considering building 35 to 40 units that would sell for between $225,000 and $350,000.
