Michael and Michele Hills are probably the only couple in Pittsburgh who use the back of a church pipe organ as a 17-foot-long headboard for their king-size bed.
Not only that, but their master bedroom is housed in the former choir loft of St. John German Evangelical Lutheran Church on 40th Street in Lawrenceville. The church, built in 1896, held its last service in 2001, and the Hillses bought the building in 2002. Six months later, after renovating the church into three condominiums, they moved into one of them. That was 2003.
