Garfield mixed-use project has ground-breaking

It was billed as a glass-making ground-breaking ceremony, and yesterday's launch of the Glass Lofts in Garfield did stop traffic.
Glass artist Dan LeDonne emerged from the Pittsburgh Glass Center and crossed Penn Avenue gripping an iron ladle of molten glass. He poured it into a mold on a construction site where 18 mixed-income, for-sale lofts as well as a restaurant, art studios and offices are expected to be built by April at a cost of $6.4 million.
