Strip District Building May Be Converted to Condos

The New Federal Cold Storage building in the city's Strip District may be converted into 120- to 140-unit loft condominiums by the Sampson-Morris Group of Monroeville.
The property is owned by the Wholey family, operators of a retail food market on Penn Avenue in the Strip. Wholey's sold its wholesale division last year to Lipari Foods Inc. of Detroit has continued limited use of the building to service its retail customers.
