Federal Street development in home stretch

Federal Street in Central North Side was once the site of blighted property and vacant lots. Today, after a few years of development, the area is undergoing several phases of revitalization, including a new library and housing and commercial developments.
The $20 million Federal Hill Housing Development, built by S&A Homes and consisting of 44 townhouses and 16 condos, will be available for occupancy in July. Many of the townhouses have already been bought and the second phase of homes will be available for occupancy in October.
“It was a horribly blighted area that was there before. It was just empty,” said Robert Iseman, a new home sales consultant with S&A homes. “The whole project is really changing the whole area. It’s bringing affordable homes to the neighborhood. It’ll be a real nice focal point.”
