SMARTSolution Technologies owners to redevelop buildings on Pittsburgh's North Side

As Mitchell Schwartz tells it, the crack in the wall he found in his company's Carrick neighborhood office was evidence that SMARTSolution Technologies was "busting at the seams."

At the same time, he and his wife were on the hunt for an old building to convert into a loft.

What they found were five buildings on Pittsburgh's North Side that they purchased to solve both problems.

Now, Schwartz has come up with a $4 million plan to renovate the old Hipwell flashlight factory into new space for his audio visual integration company, a loft for his family and additional lofts.
