Neighborhood: Lawrenceville

A mixed-use development project is planned for a five-acre industrial site located between Willow Street and the Allegheny River, bounded by 40th and 43rd Streets. On the site is a 120,000 square foot brick building, occupied by Interlocking Deck Systems International, which portions will be demolished. Original plans call for 130 to 150 apartment units and possibly a restaurant. One of the remaining structures would be renovated into possibly a farmers or artisans market and space for small performances.

Current plans call for 191 apartment units in a 6-story building with 153 parking spaces.

Community discussions were held in November 2014 and city hearings in June 2015. Development would start sometime in 2015 and completion is expected in 2017. A possible second phase focusing on the land between 40th and 41st Streets would depend on the success of the initial development.
