Former New York Times style editor Holly Brubach purchased the nin-story Granite Building at Sixth and Wood and converted it into six luxury condo units plus a two-floor penthouse unit. The first floor will be for commercial space. The Romanesque-style building was designed by architects Bickel & Brennan. Completed in 1890, it originally housed the German National Bank. More recently, it was known as the Atlantic Financial Building. Each unit occupies an entire floor, consisting of 3,000 square feet of space. Units are customized, taking advantage of 12-foot heigh ceilings, natural light from a minimum of 14 windows, and restaurant-style kitchens. The top two floors will be formed as one unit for Brubach.
Completion is scheduled for mid-2007.
