The developer plans to renovate the former G.C. Murphy store and adjacent buildings into a mixed-use project with 60,000 square feet of space for retail and the new YMCA home on the first and second floors as well as 35,00 square feet of residential space.
Plans call for 50 loft apartments with underground parking in the former basement. Units will range from 620 to 1,500 square feet. Units will feature open floor plans, high ceilings, exposed brick and beams, and large windows as well as luxury kitchens with stainless steel appliances and solid surface countertops. Building amenities include a fitness center, party room, and rooftop terrace.
The renovation includes connecting the different floor levels of five buildings built between 1900 and 1930. Strada is the architecture firm designing the project. Construction is expected to start by the end of 2007 and be completed in late 2008.
